The course will begin with introduction to basic clinic-pathological correlation via several videos made by me that students will see at their own convenience before the course (approximately 90 minutes). First online session will be used for introductions and lecture to explain approach to clinical reasoning and answer questions. Rest of the class time will be used to discuss patient scenarios and actual practice of clinical reasoning skills. Class will be divided in groups of 4-5 students each. Each group will get several cases over the course to obtain history and attempt to understand the pathology behind patient symptoms to make a clinical differential diagnosis. Each group will get one case at a time and each group will do several cases during the course. The rest of the groups will evaluate the performing group and case will open for discussion once the selected group finishes. The scenarios will be moderated by me and I will act as the standardized patient for each case. At the end of each case, I will provide the actual diagnosis and explain why it is so. We will cover most common cases from cardiovascular, respiratory and GI systems. At the end of the course students should be able to navigate a full history with ease and be able to make a good differential diagnosis.
