"1. Airway management for general anesthesia or intravenous sedation in dental procedure. This section describes the implications and methods of airway management in general anesthesia, as well as the methods and difficulties of airway management in intravenous sedation.
2. Is periodontal disease contagious? There are more bacteria living on the surface of the body than the total number of cells in a person. In this section, I would like to explain the potency of resident flora and recognize again the importance of plaque control.
3. Periodontal bacteria and biological barrier dysfunction Chronic periodontitis is characterized by a cumulative inflammatory burden induced by persistent infection caused by periodontopathic bacteria, leading to bleeding, fibrinolysis, and inflammation. This section discusses the dysfunction of the biological barrier by periodontal bacteria, particularly the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic disease.
4. Conventional complete denture therapy and its significance. In this section, students will learn about the characteristics of a conventional complete denture and significance of prosthetic treatment with a complete denture. This section will provide students with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of the characteristics of a conventional complete denture and to learn about the importance of using an appropriate complete denture and the effectiveness of prosthetic treatment with it.
5. Orthodontics: Morphology of the Maxillofacial Skeleton and Growth of the Mandible In this section, students will learn (1) classification of maxillofacial skeletal morphology based on lateral cephalogram, (2) relationship between maxillofacial skeletal morphology and occlusion and (3) relationships between growth pattern of the mandible and maxillofacial skeletal morphology.
6. Dental Anesthesiology Dental anesthesiology is a field of dentistry that focuses on regional and general anesthesia, sedation, and orofacial pain. This section provides the history of dental anesthesiology, and modern anesthetic management in Japan. We also provide the information of our latest research including (1) pathogenesis and novel therapies for bronchospasm in asthmatic patients during anesthesia and (2) multiscale brain functional imaging in animal model of orofacial pain by activity-induced manganese-dependent MRI (AIM-MRI)."
