Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved process in which cellular contents are degraded via lysosomes. At present, autophagy is one of the hot topics in biomedical research, with increasing understanding of its molecular mechanisms, biological functions and clinical applications. Thus, this course is designed for both undergraduates (final year) and postgraduate students and the pedagogy includes lectures, tutorials and student presentations. The intended learning outcomes of this course is to provide the students with a comprehensive understanding of autophagy, from molecular mechanisms, biological functions to clinical applications in health and disease. This course will also intend to enhance students’ skills in critical thinking, research paper reading, and also presentation, all in English.
