The first series courses will cover general topics, to get students familiarized with English learning environments and learn culture and environments. These topics will cover 1) American university ranking, and an introduction of top schools; 2) American colleges course load, learning method, and academic culture; 3) introduction of America’s largest corporations, with an emphasis in biotechnology fields; 4) an overlook of American national parks and how these parks boosted economy; 5) an overview of America sates/cities, and their population and economy, and what small towns are like; 6) an overview of American theme parks, and their business model and characteristics; 7) American politics, and why most talented citizens do not like to be in politics; 8) how America health care system works and why it costs so much of its GDP; 9) an introduction of different religions in the America and how it affects their daily life. In the later sessions, depending on students’ progression, this course will give an overview of 1) career paths for biology students in the USA, and their expected incomes and social status; 2) working environments and expectation differences from biotech and academic institutes; 3) working environments and ethics/culture difference between American and Chinese company and academic institutes; 4) introduction of current “hottest” fields in biotech and academy, and how drug developments and novel therapeutics are being rapidly produced; 5) how clinical trails work in assessing drugs and novel therapeutics.
