"Some of the most interesting Fashion or Textile design outcomes arise from combining or mixing elements, processes or details that might not appear natural or obvious. This brief allows you to explore creative solutions by bringing together ‘juxtaposed’ influences or inspirations. Referring to the project brief as a starting point, you are asked to extend your conceptual and technical research towards the creation, communication and presentation of a Fashion or Textile design collection. You should start your research with an open approach to a variety of influences and potential references. These should fall outside the usual Fashion or Textile conventions to include sources from art, architecture, film, design, new technologies or traditional crafts, etc. You may derive inspiration from looking at natural or abstract shapes and forms, details, textures, colours or processes, etc. You will need to consider how you can work with your research as you begin to test and explore your ideas. Use drawing, media experimentations, paintings, collage, etc., to help you develop your Ideas. Use your sketchbook/s as a store for your project research and colour development – the sketchbook should be a chronological progression of your ideas, motivations and thoughts. In this way you should be completing a minimum of 10-15 pages of your sketchbook each week. You are strongly encouraged to visit actual or online exhibitions and influential designers for inspiration and to gather primary research."
