This course will cover basis of optics, optical properties of dielectric materials, optical properties of metals, optical properties of semiconductors, and photonic crystals. The objectives of this course are two folds. One is to offer the basis of optics and various optical materials. The other is to introduce students to the growing field of optical materials. The lectures will be conducted through flipped classroom model.
