Biosensors & Diagnostics is a course giving a general overview of the world of diagnostics and how biosensors enable to create new diagnostics and monitoring niches thanks to their added proof of value. The course is multidisciplinary in nature just like the field it mirrors. The course is divided into several topics. Topic 1: Diagnostics. Topic 2: lateral flow immunoassay and quantitation derivations: innovating to answer technological gaps. Topic 3: Create your own diagnostic. Topic 4: Biosensors. Topic 5: Create your own biosensor. Topic 6: Bioluminesncence-based bioreporters to luminescent fiber-optic biosensors. Topic 7: Chemiluminescent fiber-optic immunosensors and genosensors.Topic 8: From ideation to start-up: innovating to product in the world of biosensors, using as model the electrolateral flow immunosensor. Topic 9: the ethics of diagnostics. Topic 10: Identify a market need (pain), provide a technical solution and confirm a market need for it in the world of diagnostics. It is best the students have a scientific background in biology, chemistry and physics.
