Events Marketing

"This course is designed to introduce basic knowledge and its various forms and unique characteristics in marketing activities in the global events industry. A general knowledge of events and festivals and a constant interest on the change of its trend are required for successful completion of the course. The students will understand the conceptual meaning and differentiation each kind of events. After completion of this course, students will be able: (a) To acquire an in-depth understanding of the concepts and structure of events industry, and (b) To identify principles, processes and marketing techniques for preparing international and national events. Students are expected to understand the concept of event tourism and its various kinds based on the MICE and to understand its unique characteristics. Students are also expected to know what elements are needed for events promotion. Good attendance and studying the material given by the instructor before/after each lecture are required. In addition, continued interest on the trend of events industry through a variety of materials such like academic and industry journals, media reports, and reliable internet resources is useful. The contents of the course are: 1) Introduction: The definition, typology and structure of events. 2) The impact of event tourism at national and international level. 3) Traditional and online marketing activities in the events. 4) Marketing strategies of the events. 5) Destination marketing for the event cities. In order to have better understanding the real-world updated industry and sharing opinions to relevant topics among peers, videos and discussion sessions are provided at each class. "
