This course is an intermediate course for senior undergraduate students and master students. The course covers basic urban economic theory and its connection with public finance. The materials will be drawn from both urban economics and public finance, with both theoretical and empirical contents. At the end of the course, students will have a basic understanding on key issues of urban fiscal policy, and are encouraged to develop a research proposal. The recommended reading is the textbook by Professor Holger Sieg: urban economics and fiscal policy.
