This course will focus on the appreciation of ancient art in Asia, particularly in China. The course will enhance students' understanding and appreciation of Asian art and culture, and play the role of art museums as platforms for cultural exchange and cultural diplomacy. As the director of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, Jay Xu will use the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco as the centerpiece to reveal and present the significance of Asian art and its interaction with the rest of the world in a global context, exploring the connections between contemporary and ancient Asian art. The aim is to further promote historical and cultural exchange, to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of Asian art and culture, and to play the role of the museum as a platform for cultural exchange and cultural diplomacy.
